How to approve submitted hours

When approval flows are set up, submitted (locked) timesheets wait for an approver before they're final. This article is for approvers: how to find the hours waiting on you, review them, and approve. For how approval flows are configured and who approves what, see Approval Flows.
Before you begin
Approval flows are set up for your organization, and you're an assigned approver (via project owner, reporting structure, or group) — or you have permission to approve time entries.
Finding hours to approve
When someone submits hours that need your sign-off, you get a New Hours to Approve notification in the top navigation. Open Approvals from the sidebar. The page has two tabs:
Items pending your approval — everything waiting on you, with a count.
Approved by you — what you've already approved.
Reviewing and approving
On Items pending your approval, review the entries — they're grouped by project, per person.
Each entry shows its details and the delta to plan — how the tracked hours compare to what was planned — so you can spot over- or under-runs at a glance. Open a person to see more context.
Select the entries you want to approve (select several to approve in bulk).
Click Approve. The selected entries are approved and move to Approved by you.
If something looks off, discuss it with the submitter and make any needed corrections before approving. To reopen time that's already locked so it can be edited, see How to unlock a submitted timesheet.
